Inspiration
Living in Singapore means being surrounded by food choices everywhere, from hawker centres to supermarkets and convenience stores. While this makes eating convenient, it also makes it difficult to identify healthier options, especially with hidden sugar and salt in many popular foods and drinks. We wanted to move beyond static nutrition labels and create an interactive experience that allows people to learn by making choices and seeing their consequences.
What it does
MakanQuest is a gamified nutrition simulation that helps Singaporeans make healthier everyday food choices. Players select a local avatar with different dietary needs and plan meals in familiar settings such as hawker centres, supermarkets, and convenience stores. As players choose foods, nutritional values like calories, sodium, and cholesterol are tracked. An AI-powered nutrition guide suggests healthier customisations, such as reducing sugar levels or adjusting portion sizes, and explains the impact of each choice. Mini quizzes reinforce learning by testing players on nutritional knowledge in a fun and engaging way.
