Inspiration

Our inspiration for lyrIQ stems from our passion for music and education, along with the realization that we easily remember verses from the songs we listen to. We took this insight and turned it into a passive learning tool.

What it does

lyrIQ is a mobile app designed to empower students, teachers, and learners of all kinds to create songs in any genre, with lyrics customized to specific topics and themes. Users can create and save their own playlists, explore playlists from others, and quickly access their most recent additions.

How we built it

lyrIQ was designed in Figma and developed using React Native. We integrated the Suno API for music creation and utilized Supabase as our database solution to manage user data and content.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we encountered was implementing song playback functionality. Additionally, we encountered issues with uploading images, which required extra attention and troubleshooting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have successfully launched the first version of our app. This version includes a feature that generates songs with lyrics that are both creative and specifically tailored to reflect the topics users want to learn about. This accomplishment represents a significant milestone in our journey, as we've developed a unique tool that blends music and learning in an engaging and impactful way.

What we learned

During this project, we gained a deeper understanding of the development process, especially when it comes to the complexities of image loading and song playback functionality. We also discovered how essential it is to design a user interface that is not only clean but also effectively showcases the app’s capabilities to users. Furthermore, this experience taught us the value of strong team collaboration and the significance of trusting and depending on our teammates to navigate challenges and reach our objectives.

What's next for lyrIQ

We hope to expand lyrIQ by enhancing one-on-one user communication features and incorporating more AI capabilities. This will enable us to automatically generate full playlists based on user preferences and learning goals. We also aim to consistently improve and introduce new features, ensuring the app continues to grow and better serve our users.
