Inspiration
Yellow Pages made a challenge to make a bot with natural languague processing that can answer users needs using YellowAPI. It's also helpful for blind people, because they can use twitter with speech recognition
What it does
A twitter bot that can be asked about locations, services, universities, and much more and it suggests the closest location to you.
How we built it
We build it using Python with Language Understanding Intelligent Service and Cognitive Services from Microsoft to help us identify the critical words. Then, we process it and use twitter app that replies to the user.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't have the full documentation of Yellow API until the end when we asked one of the developers in Yellow Pages about it. Also, it was a bit challenging to develop a bot for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A fully working bot that can answer questions intelligently and naturally.
What we learned
We learned about Yellow APIs, and Microsoft Cognitive Services which are the basis of this bot. We also learned how to integrate different Microsoft AI services together especially that there were no enough documentation about it and all of the services we used were in Beta Version
What's next for LookItUp
We need to make it better so it can interact with the user in conversation. Also, we need to add a city recognition, so the user can ask about things in different cities.
Potential Improvement
We are planning to have an app with a simple UI interface to help people look for what they need around them
