Inspiration

I have been an avid gamer since I was young. I have played many classic video games such as World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Counter Strike, and Civilization. They have given me countless hours of entertainment. It is always fun to be immersed in a video game and loose track of time. Through playing those video games, I have developed a sense of how a good video game should be like and what the essential elements of a good video game are. I have always wanted to build a video game based on those ideas. This hackathon has given me this opportunity to build my own video game that I feel is truly fun and exciting.

What it does

Bug Hunt is a 2D video game in which the player takes the role of a hero who defends against waves of bug invasion. The main character stands at the center of the screen and shoots enemies who come towards the player from every direction. The main character shoots projectiles automatically. The game has multiple levels. Player progresses to the next level by killing the enemies. Each level comes with a unique background and becomes progressively harder (the enemies have more hit points and move faster). The player becomes stronger by shooting "upgrades", which spawn on the screen just like the enemies. The "upgrades" could be something like +1 damage, +1 shooting rate, and more.

How we built it

I built this game using Lens Studio. After watching some online tutorials, I was able to utilize Lens Studio features to create this amazing game. Lens Studio AI is such a game changer because it helped me generate textures and sprites for my game.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge that I ran into was coming up with the textures and sprites for my game. Lens Studio AI solved that problem for me. I was able to ask Lens Studio AI to generate appropriate textures for different levels as well as sprites for the player and enemies. Lens Studio AI solved this biggest challenge and allowed me to focus on coding and designing a better game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest accomplishment that I am proud of with this game is to be able to put together all the right ingredients to create such a wonderful games. From coding to textures and sprites, I was able to put all right ingredients together to create a very fun game.

How to develop a Lens game from scratch using Lens Studio. How to generate textures and sprites using Lens Studio AI. How to put all the right ingredients together to create a fun and unique game.

What's next for Lens Game

I plan to expand this game with more features, including: bouncy projectiles, different types of ammo, level bosses, more types of enemy, more levels, more types of upgrade.
