Inspiration

Think tanks and policy wonks often think about what ought to be done. But it can be difficult to keep up to date with what is actually happening; perhaps in order to respond in a timely manner to a new piece of legislation that is being drafted.

What it does

It scrapes api feeds from the UK government; hansard, bills, commons and lords library briefings and more. It then parses this data, summarises it, and provides it in a feed / daily newsletter emailed to you.

How we built it

I built it solo using an AI agent for help. Python, Nextjs and Modal for LLM and diffusion model compute.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It's fully live functioning. No dummy data, no faking it.

What we learned

Learned a lot about developing with AI agents.

What's next for Legislation Tracker

Make it less hacky, scrape more sources, branch out beyond just UK parliamentary sources.
