Inspiration

Toasty Polvo is a small-but-growing dessert brand reimagining polvoron—a rich, crumbly Filipino shortbread traditionally gifted during holidays and milestones. They are looking to scale sustainably and intentionally. Our team plans to help them with this by creating a tool that helps the business manage their pastry production.

What it does

Our business solution aims to make pastry production more efficient by allowing the business owners to see all their orders at a glance and in detail; see the material cost breakdown of each order; help them decide whether to take on an order or not; filter their orders by channel (market, events, online store); host an AI assistant/agent; and generate pdf reports of orders, ROI, and insights. It has user authentication, a smooth user interface, and an intuitive and customizable user experience.

How we built it

The broad strokes of the implementation were done with Lovable. The insights tab and the customizable material cost breakdown were manually implemented in Next.js and Supabase.

Challenges we ran into

We had a first time hacker who had a steep learning curve, but we were able to help him out :) Our team faced some trouble with merge conflicts while merging features, implemented from different branches, into our main branch. Eventually we successfully integrated these features and resolved our merge conflicts!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team we're proud of completing and polishing our project! We were able to implement our core features and execute our minimum viable product quickly without sacrificing quality, giving us extra time to implement some of the extra features at the end!

What we learned

We learned how to integrate an AI agent into our project and use it to automate decisions for us (approving or rejecting orders instead of the user manually doing it). More importantly, we learned how a business operates, to an extent, and used our software engineering and product management skills to ensure our local business, Toasty Polvo, can grow and succeed in the future.
