Inspiration

  • We are all Freshmen and this is our first Hackathon ever! Since it is our first Hackathon, we had no idea how to form a team. As most of the participants already had a team for themselves. We were lost in our journey to find each other. We were fortunate, but many people weren't. Therefore, we decided to develop a platform to help people like us having the best hackathon experience possible. ## What it does
  • Our website allows users with an authenticated account to host an event. Then, these hosts will be provided a link to allow participants to find their teammates!! ## How we built it
  • We are going to build it as a web-based app. We used Firebase as the database, Javascript for backend development and Bootstrap, HTML, CSS to build the webpage frontend. ## Challenges we ran into
  • As we had very little knowledge in web-developing, all of us have to learn almost everything along the way. Thus, our progress is very slow, and we ended up not being able to build as many functions as we wanted. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • Despite not having much knowledge, we still stick with the project until the end and being able to complete the project. We also created a very beautiful UI for the web and a well-executed database and backend. But most importantly, we're proud that we learned a lot of new things and being able to apply what we learned right away. ## What we learned
  • We learn how to work as a team, split individual work and learn new knowledge(Javascript, CSS, HTML, Firebase management, Bootstrap.etc) while doing the Hackathon. ## What's next for Hackathon Matching
  • We want to expand our platform to be able to serve different kinds of events with the same functionalities or simply connecting people who need to be connected (dating, work-out buddies, study-partner .etc). Along with that, we want to analyze the data we collected from the users to conduct research. So far, the research we thought of is to figure which team-background formation will have the best result.
