Inspiration
We used ZotCourse as inspiration.
What it does
It is a web application that aims to help students at UCI study with their peers by coordinating with their class schedules. Group Study reduces the amount of time it takes to collaborate with someone with a busy schedule to book a study or room or make time for other study sessions. Students create an account with Group Study and assign classes to their current schedule for each quarter, using the course display option, after which they can add their friends and peers to their close friend’s list and access their schedules to make a group schedule and make study room appointments. Our app’s intends to make studying a more well-rounded experience by encouraging group studying that has shown to combat procrastination,
How we built it
We used Visual Studio Code with Python, Git, Google Calendar API and tabulate
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble using the APIs, specifically Google, along with developing front-end aspects of our application due to limited resources and knowledge on the subject.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our back-end program that generates a schedule given a user and their courses.
What we learned
We learned about API's and their functionality along with building a database for users using Firebase
What's next for Group-Study
We hope to complete the back-end developing by constructing a database and implement the front-end of the app.
