Inspiration:
Because we live in a country where random waste can be found everywhere, and because the focus of this hackathon is environment, we were motivated to design an app that can help solve this problem.
What it does:
Our idea comprises of a platform where users can upload rubbish reports that will display in the app feed so that volunteers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may see them and take action. You can also sign up to be a volunteer and receive emails and notifications anytime a nearby report is posted.
How we built it:
To build this project, we created a landing web page that may take you to either the "become volunteer" portion, which is a Google form that must be filled in order to qualify as a volunteer, or directly to the the main app.
Challenges we ran into:
One of the difficulties we encountered during this hackathon was that we had never used appsheet before and had to quickly become acquainted with the software. We also had a trouble deciding on the core idea, which we only fixed on the second day with this "green change."
What we learned:
We were able to learn how to construct an app from scratch using appsheet, and we also got to know each other because this is the first time we have worked together in a group project with my teammate.
What's next for The Green Change:
Due to time constraints, we were unable to fully complete some features and details that can help with the user experience; therefore, we will continue working on making this app ready for use by everyone, as this concept could be a true blessing for our country, which is plagued by the problem.
