Inspiration

We were inspired by Jackbox games and the social aspect behind the mechanics, as well as the play of words on "MadHacks".

What it does

The game focuses on creativity and innovation, where players to answer a simple question that will later get "hacked" by others, allowing them to replace part of the question in order to make their answer look silly. The game asks players to write and choose words that can be used to change their friends' questions, and later asks each player to defend their response to the new question.

How we built it

Going Mad ultilizes a website in order for online play, with the multiplayer aspect and backend written in Rust and the frontend written in Svelte.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge against us was time, putting us behind the competition and preventing us from finishing our goals in time. Another obstacle we faced was during the design process, as game design requires thinking from all angles and identifying many edge cases to close any loopholes that players may find in playing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a social party game and coding a website to assist in running the game was something new to all of us, so we're very proud to develop a game that can reach any audience and is simple to learn and play.

What we learned

It's good to prepare ahead of time to understand what our plans are when going into the hackathon to ultilize our time in developing the project and use as most time on the project as possible.

What's next for Going Mad

We are planning to continue developing the game for players for future use and finishing and finalizing the implementation of the gameplay, giving players a chance to check out a fun twist on our creation.
