Gentle Reset

Inspiration

Gentle Reset was inspired by my experience working in healthcare and wellness environments, where I witnessed how many people live in a constant state of nervous system overload, stress, and fatigue. While younger generations are becoming more aware of mental and physiological regulation, I noticed that many older individuals (especially in my country) are often left behind because most existing tools are too complex, overwhelming, or not designed with their accessibility in mind.

This motivated me to create something simple and approachable. I wanted to build a tool that reduces friction rather than adding more cognitive burden, allowing users to reset their nervous system in a way that feels safe, clear, and manageable.

I also chose to build Gentle Reset on Android because it is the most widely used platform among older individuals in my region. My goal was to ensure that this tool could reach the people who need it most, making nervous system care accessible, inclusive, and sustainable for all ages, regardless of their technical familiarity.

What it does

Gentle Reset is a mobile wellness application that provides structured reset sessions designed to help users regulate their nervous system and return to a calm, focused state. The app includes:

• A clean, minimal interface designed to reduce cognitive overload
• Guided reset sessions that can be completed in under two minutes
• A premium subscription system powered by RevenueCat
• Entitlement-based feature unlocking for advanced reset modes
• Restore purchases and subscription state verification The app demonstrates a complete monetized mobile application MVP with a working purchase flow and gated premium functionality.

How we built it

Gentle Reset was built using:

• Kotlin
• Jetpack Compose
• Android Studio
• RevenueCat SDK RevenueCat was integrated to manage subscriptions, entitlement verification, and premium access control. The app uses RevenueCat’s offerings system to retrieve available subscription packages and process purchases.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was implementing subscription handling correctly and ensuring entitlement state updated reliably after purchase.

Integrating RevenueCat required careful handling of asynchronous callbacks, purchase flows, and entitlement verification to ensure the UI updated correctly in real time.

Another challenge was balancing simplicity with scalability. The app was intentionally designed as a minimal MVP while ensuring the underlying architecture could support more advanced features in the future.

Additionally, navigating platform requirements, build signing, and release configuration introduced additional complexity during deployment preparation.

We successfully built a fully working, monetized mobile application MVP with:

Most importantly, the app demonstrates a complete end-to-end monetization pipeline using RevenueCat, from purchase to entitlement to premium feature access.

• Designing scalable mobile MVPs We also learned how critical simplicity and usability are when building tools intended for wellness and daily use.

What's next for Gentle Reset

Future development will focus on expanding Gentle Reset into a more personalized and accessible nervous system regulation platform. Planned features include personalized reset protocols, adaptive recommendations, and enhanced premium reset modes powered by RevenueCat subscriptions.

A key priority is improving accessibility for users in my country and other underserved regions. Gentle Reset will be fully localized into Bahasa Indonesia to ensure that older individuals and non-English speakers can comfortably understand and use the app. This will make the platform more inclusive and allow nervous system care tools to reach communities that are often overlooked by existing digital wellness solutions.

Long-term, Gentle Reset is designed to evolve into a scalable, globally accessible wellness platform that combines medical insight, personalization, and sustainable monetization infrastructure.
