In an age of constant digital noise, we often lose touch with how we feel. Genis is an IOS & Apple Watch experience designed to bridge that gap through seamless, high-frequency emotional check-ins.

Inspiration

As someone living with ADHD and Autism (Level 1), I often find that the "why" behind my emotions vanishes before I have the chance to process it. I realized my moods were frequently tied to specific times of day or environmental triggers, but I lacked a map to see those patterns. I needed a tool that could correlate time and events with my internal state in real-time not just to track, but to provide a historical perspective that allows me to adjust my reactions and proactively improve my well-being.

What it does

Genis is a cross-platform emotional intelligence ecosystem currently on iOS and Apple Watch. It transforms the chore of mood tracking into a high-tech, satisfying ritual. Using heavy AI integration, Genis features a dynamic "Orb" a visual centerpiece that shifts based on your current mood to provide an immediate biofeedback loop. Users can Chat with their mood data to uncover hidden patterns and receive AI dynamic "Chat" suggestions, which are contextual prompts offering guidance tailored to their current emotional state.

How we built it

Genis was built exclusively using Google’s Antigravity, utilizing a "vibe-coded" development approach.

  • Platform Reach: Currently live on TestFlight for iOS and watchOS, utilizing Apple HealthKit to sync vital health and activity data.
  • AI Engine: A powerful integration of Gemini Content Generation, Gemini Live, Gemini Live Music powers our Daily Insights, Orb Animations and conversational features.
  • Vibe-Coding: By focusing on the "feel" of the interaction, Vibe coding allowed me to ensure the application looks, feels, responds with a level of intuition that traditional coding often misses.

Challenges we ran into

The primary hurdle was UI/UX iteration. We didn’t just want a utility; we wanted to create a satisfying experience that a user would want to interact with daily. Finding the balance between high-density AI data and a sensory-friendly interface for neurodivergent users took constant refinement. Additionally, we faced the technical challenge of differentiating between AI tiers. While Apple Intelligence provides a great on-device base, Google Gemini consistently provides superior insights and guidance. Bridging these two and building a credit-based system to handle the cost of premium LLM calls—required a sophisticated architectural shift. Due to this, the user can provide there own API key for Gemini, however before the application is released, we will implement the paid features to eliminate this hurdle.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have successfully bridged the gap between raw data and emotional intuition. We are incredibly proud of The Orb, which makes abstract emotional states feel tangible. Successfully integrating Gemini and on-device Apple Intelligence into a cohesive watch and mobile experience is a major milestone, allowing Genis to offer "Daily Insights" that truly resonate with the user's lived experience.

The finer details

Dynamic Logo: Based on mood, the logo adapts. Dynamic Orb: AI Generated based on your mood Manual Orb: Change the orb by swiping across the orb Dynamic Chat Suggestions: AI Generated chat suggestions, based on current mood data. Dynamic Backgrounds: The background changes dependant on the selected mood. Daily Insights: Each day on first open you are presented with insight data from the last 50 mood entries. IOS Smart Chips: Notifications can be triggered to log your mood data after a workout, or high / low heart rates.

What we learned

We learned that for a neurodivergent mind, friction is the enemy of consistency. If an app isn't satisfying to look at or "vibe" with, it won't be used. We also discovered that "Chatting with your data" is a breakthrough for self-reflection; it turns a static history into a living mentor, helping users realize that while they can’t change their brain's wiring, they can absolutely master their responses.

What's next for Genis

The road ahead is focused on platform ubiquity, professional wellness integration, and a sustainable "Freemium" model.

  • Monetization & AI Tiers: We are introducing In-App Purchases for Monthly AI Credits. Apple Intelligence will remain the "Free" base tier, while Google Gemini will power the premium insights.
  • Clinical & Professional Wellness: We are teaming up with qualified psychologists to build a "Wellness" system offering real-world assistance, including potential integrations with third-party providers like BetterHelp.
  • AI-Powered Mindfulness: We are developing guided exercises driven by the Google Gemini Live API. These sessions will be uniquely personalized generating custom audio/meditations that correlate to the user's mood and personal profile.
  • Enterprise Scaling & Web Backend: We are building a centralized web-based backend using Supabase OAuth Server. This allows Enterprise clients to implement secure SSO logins for their teams. With user consent, HR and wellness teams can track aggregate mood data to take proactive action, keeping employee satisfaction and productivity high.
