Inspiration
One of our members wanted to use facial detection in our project and another member wanted to make a game. We decided to combine our ideas to produce Fruity Drop.
What it does
The captures a live feed from your webcam to all players to use the face and hands to control the game.
How we built it
We used opencv to capture video, cvzone to recognize and track hands, and pygame to build UI/UX as well as nice graphics for our game.
Challenges we ran into
The video capture and processing was sometimes very resource intense on our computers and caused the game to run slowly or at lower qualities. Another challenge we faced was trying to export our game into a form that could be accessed by anyone without having to know how to set up the correct environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The facial detection can accurately detect when players open their mouths and can detect when the user has pinched their fingers on camera.
What we learned
A divide and conquer strategy was the key to pulling our project together. Each member contributed greatly to the final product.
