Inspiration
We were inspired by all the interesting technologies present during this hackathon to make something that we were interested in, which happened to be a game that makes being a college student a little more fun!
What it does
Forge Quest lets you team up with other players to navigate campus life. From building your stats through quests that take you all over campus to culminating raids that integrate university-wide events with leveling up, Forge Quest will ease you into the college transition by adding whimsy to daily tasks and UW events.
How we built it
- Figma for brainstorming & creating a wireframe
- React-Native & Expo & Javascript for frontend
- Socket to connect backend to frontend
- AWS for the story aspects
- Databricks Langchain for the data irrigation
- playright for webscapping for events happening
Challenges we ran into ...
Our biggest challenge was turning our ideas into reality within the time crunch as well as learning new front and backend technologies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to get as far as we did with limited time and limited prior knowledge.
What we learned
For every language, framework, platform, cloud service, database, API, or other technology we used, it was most likely our first time (or first time in a while) using it.
What's next for Forge Quest
While ForgeQuest is currently specific to the University of Washington we hope to scale to include other Universities and eventually branch out to different audiences!
