Inspiration

Every company wants to protect their innovation. But checking whether an idea is patentable is time-consuming, expensive, and often requires legal consultants. For startups and R&D teams, this means spending weeks and thousands of dollars, only to find out their idea was already patented. We built Foresea to solve this. It gives innovators instant insights into the IP landscape, saving time, money, and helping great ideas move forward faster.

What it does

Foresea is an AI-powered patent assistant.
You write your idea in plain text, whether it’s a new medical device, software feature, or hardware invention.
Foresea breaks the idea into key innovation components.
For each component, it finds related prior art: title, description, year, country, and source.
You can explore the branches in a visual tree and select one to start drafting a patent document.

It’s like having an IP consultant, researcher, and writer, in one tool.

How we built it

This was fully built during the hackathon using Bolt.
I'm originally a designer, this was all vibecoded with Bolt.
I started by asking ChatGPT to help write my first prompts. Then I got used to it and started naturally conversing with Bolt.
I asked Bolt to build the innovation tree logic, connect to the OpenAI API, structure the prior art viewer, and help users draft patents.
Supabase was added for authentication using magic links, and everything was deployed cleanly with Vercel.
Bolt made this possible from start to finish.

Challenges we ran into

AI sometimes hallucinated, adding unrelated inventions into the user’s idea branches.
Connecting Supabase auth cleanly inside Bolt required a few tries and tweaks.
Creating clean UX while jumping across logic-heavy steps like input, branching, prior art, and drafting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Fully vibecoded this project solo using Bolt.
Turned a vague idea into a working AI product in just a few days.
Created a clean, helpful interface that non-technical users can navigate.
Built something that feels ready to help real startups and inventors.

What we learned

Bolt is an insanely fast and intuitive platform, especially for someone without a full dev background.
Prompting and structuring AI output is a skill in itself, and it gets easier over time.
UI clarity matters a lot in legal or technical tools.
Supabase + Bolt + OpenAI is a powerful combo for rapid prototyping.
