Inspiration
Our hackathon project, "Risai," combines our commitment to environmental sustainability with cutting-edge mobile and web game development. This project, integrated with Unity, is designed not just as a game but as an educational tool to promote recycling and thoughtful waste management. It challenges players to minimize daily waste, like plastic bags and food wraps, in an engaging and interactive way.
What it does
Risai is a game with a mission. Available as a mobile app and web game, it incentivizes players to recycle more effectively by making waste management a challenging and rewarding experience. It showcases waste items becoming harder to manage, and offers in-game rewards like trading cards that players can collect and store in their game wallets.
How we built it
The game was built using the Flutter framework for its cross-platform capabilities, integrated with Unity to leverage its powerful game development tools. This allowed us to create an immersive and smooth gaming experience.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating Unity with Flutter posed its unique challenges, particularly in ensuring seamless communication between the two platforms.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how Risai translates a critical environmental issue into an engaging game that educates players. Our team's synergy enabled us to overcome technical challenges and create a game that is both fun and meaningful.
What we learned
This project deepened our understanding of Flutter and Flutter-Unity integration and the importance of gamification in educational tools. We also learned the intricacies of developing a game that can change people's perceptions and habits.
What's next for Risai
We're planning to expand Riisycl's reach by launching an Android version and IOS version and further developing the web version.
