Inspiration
Inspired by a mini game in Mario Odyssey funnily enough!
What it does
- You see an image for just a few moments, then it's taken away.
- Do your best to remember and draw the image exactly as it appeared.
- The game checks how close your drawing was to the original and gives you a grade.
- Every day is a new drawing, and participants can see their daily rankings on the leaderboard.
How we built it
- With the help of my pal Claude.
Challenges we ran into
The most difficult part of the project was coming up with good game ideas and narrowing down to a group that was feasible to build and fun to play. I ended up working on several very different ideas at once, and after several early iterations on each, I began to cut the ideas that needed more effort to get to an engaging core game loop.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Showed it to my partner and she said "That's fun!"
What we learned
Mostly learned a better way to work on an open ended project and how to test several ideas at once. I used claude and worktrees to have several terminals running, each on a different worktree, and we worked out a plan for each game idea before building. Some ideas didn't even get past the plan stage because we identified that they would be too difficult.
