Inspiration
The world we live in is divided. We can start with our local community to foster commonwealth, growth, and unity. Let's create a space where we can be there for one another and fabor a neighbor.
What it does
- We built a platform that allows users to volunteer to help someone else; in return, those users can ask another person for help.
- It's essentially a perpetual cycle of pay-it-forward.
- For example, if I tutor someone in math for 4 hours, I will later have 4 hours to spend myself.
- Time becomes your currency, and you cannot exchange it for monetary value.
- Currently limited via distance (local community focused)
How I built it
- Using golang as our back-end services, we deployed our web app using docker and azure.
- We used JQuery to connect the back-end to the front-end.
Challenges I ran into
- Azure services deployment was a great challenge
- Finding diverse teammates and fitting everyone into a role.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Learning azure on the way
- Learning golang almost from scratch
- Learning about Angular and React for front-end, went with Ajax and JQuery
- Coming up with the idea and planning out a whole attack
- Staying up the whole time even with a midterm on Monday
What's next for Fabor
- See it in action within your local neighborhoods :)
