Inspiration

There has been so much recent news about climate change and the environment, and it has grown to be very concerning for humanity as a whole. Scientists estimate that, in 20 years or less, climate change will be irreversible, and humanity will be doomed. The only way we can solve this is for everyone to take action, but people don't really care and aren't thinking about the environment, or don't have the motivation to take action to help the environment on a daily basis. So, we thought that, if we can give people a good reason to help the environment, they will, and change can really happen.

What it does

This website will pay you $1 for every 1 KG of CO2 you save from the environment. Once a day, you can log in to enter a few activities you did that day that help the environment. Then, it will calculate, based on our own research and sources, how much KG of CO2 that action will save, and then give you money based on that.

How we built it

We built the frontend with HTML/CSS/JS and Three.js, and the backend with Node.js. For the server and databases, we used MySQL, Google Cloud, and AWS.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into huge problems with the server and databases, but we managed to get past them and create a good working product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the login system, the hashing of the passwords, the three.js models, and the general concept because we think it could be really cool in the future.

What we learned

We learned more about servers, databases, hashing, 3D models, and general programming.

What's next for EnviroRich

We want to make some sort of system to actually pay out people, which would be really cool.
