Inspiration

Found it through AI conversation actually. I would not have made it in time with my original game idea, so I picked this.

What it does

EmojiChain posts a new emoji puzzle every day. Players see a sequence of emojis (like 🦁👑🌍) and try to guess what it represents — a movie, song, phrase, game, or concept. You get 6 attempts, with a hint after 3 wrong guesses. After solving (or giving up), you see:

Your score and star rating Community stats with Wordle-style distribution charts Today's and all-time leaderboards A countdown to the next puzzle An option to submit your own emoji puzzle for future challenges

How we built it

NOTE: COMPLETELY VIBE CODED Platform: Reddit Devvit Web (interactive posts) Frontend: React 19 + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS v4 Backend: Hono server framework with Redis for persistence Architecture: Two-entrypoint client (splash screen → expanded game), server-side API with 7 endpoints handling puzzles, guessing, stats, leaderboards, user profiles, and puzzle submissions Data model: Redis keys for daily puzzles, per-user guess tracking, sorted sets for leaderboards, and streak counters

Challenges we ran into

A couple of bugs; blank screen and such. Need more time to figure out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In a couple of hours, a playable game was ready.

What we learned

Community-generated content (puzzle submissions) is key to long-term sustainability.

What's next for Emoji Chain

Fix the current bugs, think about the flow and enhance the game overall design, logic etc.
