Inspiration
I was inspired by Eitan's brief when he talked about the obstacles that prevent his followers from getting into the kitchen. I saw this as an opportunity to build technology that helps people do what they want to do (i.e. cook a recipe they saw), an opportunity to use technology to help humans be more human.
What it does
This app lets you go from a TikTok recipe link to an Instacart grocery cart in two clicks. It analyzes the recipe video, the captions, the transcript, and produces a clear set of ingredients and steps to follow. It creates your grocery list, or sends it directly to Instacart. It basically saves you a lot of time translating a recipe video into concrete actions.
How I built it
I built it in native Swift and SwiftUI
Challenges we ran into
Time - duh! Never enough time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Clicking the "submit" button before the deadline
What we learned
As with all deadlines, I should have started working on this sooner. ;)
What's next for Get Cookin'
So many things! A big focus on the animations, and emotional elements that make the app feel more fun. Fine-tune the user flows and design in general, as this is just the MVP, and definitely send this out for user testing to get some real feedback.
