Inspiration
Some of our teammates used productivity and note taking apps and we came to a realization that many were lacking in organizing multiple documents in the same instance.
What it does
Our application creates a whiteboard experience with the capability to import multiple documents into the same workspace/instance with the ability to take notes that are "anchored" to the respective page
How we built it
We used the React.js framework written in Typescript along with a few other react libraries such as react-draggable, syncfusion & tldraw. We also used tailwind CSS for the some of the design elements. However, this process was faced with multiple roadblocks due to our inexperience with JavaScript/ TypeScript and the framework as a whole.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we made so far and our ability to learn new frontend framework in the given time constraints, all the while planning out to delegate tasks carefully - especially since our team was down to two members halfway through the hackathon.
What we learned
Our inexperience in the framework pushed us to be more cautious of our design choices. This also meant we had to adapt our mindsets to gain a general better understanding and knowing when to reach our for help. We initially used Electron.js to build the application but quickly realized React.js would be better suited for our purpose given the time constraints. Since we have a better foothold on React than before, EDF will be able to fully flesh out this application and achieve the reach goals we visualized in the first place.
What's next for EDF (Easy Document Format)
As most note taking apps are written with the React.js framework we hope to implement some of our stretch goals
