Brief

Inspiration
Over the past few weeks, I have been watching quite a lot of "Crikey! It's The Irwins" . They are a family that is very involved with animals and the conservation of endangered species. I often find when people talk about sustainability and being environmentally friendly, many fail to discuss animals and the impact hunting and natural disasters have on their population as well as the biodiversity and environment of the earth, which they directly help with. That is why I created EcoAnimal.
What is EcoAnimal and what does it do?
EcoAnimal is a web-based application that aims to make teaching younger generations about animals in a fun and interactive way. This is done by giving users information about an endangered animal and then asking them to answer a question based on the animal in order to obtain a QR code that allows them to see the animal right on their mobile camera screen using AR - pretty cool!
Logistics
How I built it
I built this using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and EchoAR. HTML was used to get the text onto the page and CSS was used to style it. I then used JavaScript to get the functionality of the quiz, extra DOM features, and buttons operating properly as well as EchoAR to create the AR animals for use.
Here is an example page (animal information page):

Key Takeaways
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges I encountered was the use of EchoAR because I am new to the application it was a bit difficult to start with at the beginning but I was soon able to figure it out. Before, I didn't understand that you had to load the key for the AR scan to work but, over time I realized. It was also a bit hard going solo as I soon found I had to undertake tasks all by myself that I would usually divide between teammates.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am happy to have translated my idea into reality and work with new applications within a limited time frame as well as making use of my web development skills.
What I learned
I learned not to put stress on myself as well as to pace myself effectively throughout the event.
What's next for EcoAnimal
I hope to add more animals to the site as well as make both UI and UX more appealing and interesting to users. I also plan to my a jungle feature that allows users to see all the animals at one time on their phone using AR.
