Inspiration

The increasing demand for home deliveries and the resulting rise in traffic and pollution, particularly for the last mile of the delivery, inspired us to want to create a smarter and greener solution. Additionally, the desire to make use of cutting-edge technology such as delivery drones helped to inspire the creation of ECO₂ Drop.

What it does

By leveraging emerging technology, ECO₂ Drop aims to revolutionize the last mile of industry deliveries and provide a more efficient and eco-friendly solution for businesses and consumers alike. Packages will get dropped off at our fulfillment centres located in urban areas and we will use small, electric vehicles such as e-bikes and autonomous drones to deliver them the rest of the way.

Our company will employ delivery drivers and provide them with access to our own selection of e-bikes. We will also have a selection of autonomous and electric drones that can quickly carry out deliveries across cities at speeds of up to 100km/h. Sophisticated routing optimization algorithms will be used to make sure our deliveries are as efficient as possible to minimize the number of trips that need to be made. Lastly, as the last mile of the delivery is being carried out, customers can see the location of their driver in real time using our advanced tracking software so they know exactly when it is going to arrive.

How we built it

We built a demo landing page for our website using React. We also used Figma to create some of the graphics used on the website.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was figuring our how to ensure that our deliveries would be efficient and reliable. We solved this challenge by coming up with the idea to use sophisticated routing optimization algorithms and cutting-edge drone and e-bike technology to make deliveries as fast as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we were able to come up with an innovative and sustainable idea for a company that addresses the drastic negative environmental impact of last mile deliveries. Also, we were able to design and implement a demo landing page for a website that is aesthetically pleasing and properly conveys what ECO₂ Drop is all about.

What we learned

While researching and ideating for ECO₂ Drop, we gained knowledge about the carbon emissions created by industry deliveries and the ways in which we can work towards reducing them. We also learned a lot about animations and UI design through the development of our website.
