Decomplicate

Inspiration

We discussed with educators what problems they've had. One of those problems was a break down in communication between parents and teachers.

What it does

It takes a given text, and reduces its lexicon to a more accessible reading level

How we built it

We developed a backend parser that takes words, and finds synonyms that are more commonly used, and pushes those words back to a front end website

Challenges we ran into

Human language is full of nuance

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It makes the preamble of the US constitution more accessible

What we learned

NLP requires further developed API, frameworks, etc.

What's next for Decomplicate

We want to begin to parse clauses in to shorter sentences
