Project Story

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the Ageless Bicyclists community in Singapore, where seniors and volunteers cycle together for health and bonding. We noticed that while the events are joyful, the logistics are difficult:

Assigning the right bikes (adaptive, tandem, regular) takes a lot of time.

Volunteers and participants can get mismatched or lost in the crowd.

Organizers worry about missing bikes or safety when someone leaves the event zone.

We wanted to design a technology-driven solution that not only makes event management smoother but also enhances safety, motivation, and inclusivity.

What We Learned

We learned about the real gaps in event operations: coordination is still largely manual.

We explored existing systems like SG Bike, Anywheel, and global IoT bike locks, but saw they focused on rentals — not event-specific volunteer matching and alerts.

Through this project, we understood how IoT + QR codes + real-time maps can combine into a low-cost, impactful system.

How We Built It

Using lovable and claude ai to build the webpage. Using cad.onshape.com to build 3d bike. We also used paper to build the band prototype.

Challenges We Faced

Integration of smart functions: Even though separate tools exist (GPS, QR, volunteer management), combining them into a single seamless system was complex.

Balancing simplicity with features: Too many moving dots on the map can overwhelm users, so we had to refine the UI (e.g., scrollable map, different colors).

Scalability questions: Ensuring the system can handle both a small pilot (10–20 participants) and a larger event (100+) required careful planning.
