Inspiration
🩵 There’s something cozy about playing with a group of friends sat all around the table. Everyone’s immersed in the same thing, in the same space, crafting a story. We wanted to bring that shared, personalized experience to more people.
What it does?
🩵 CROWDSTORY redefines “Choose Your Own Story” into “Choose Our Own Story”. Debate, discuss, and collaborate amongst yourselves, or do none of that all, and see which choice comes out on top. But don’t forget, we’re all friends here.
How we built it?
🩵 “You wake up in a forest and you hear loud footsteps heading your direction, what do you do?” It started as an idea, and then a concept on the white-board. We loved the idea of bringing a multiplayer experience to groups of friends, or even strangers.
🩵 We used Figma Design to bring our vision into prototype, and prompted a variety of stories using Dedalus API. In order to bring players together, we used real-time syncing.
Challenges we ran into
🩵 It was challenging to implement the API Key and create stories that were connected by the choices players would make. Connecting the frontend and backend was also difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
🩵 From Figma Design to CSS and React, we’re proud of bringing both a simplistic and friendly interface to players.
🩵 We enjoyed seeing the stories come to life, which we prompted using Dedalus API.
What we learned?
🩵 Figma Design, Dev Mode, and animation in Figma using GIFs.
🩵 Connecting the API key to the backend.
🩵 Working as a team and collaborating on ideas that we’re all passionate about.
What's next for CROWDSTORY?
🩵 CROWDSTORY would love to bring people together from all across the world using a chatbox feature.
🩵 Depending on the storyline, image-generation is another feature on the table we want to bring in order to improve our storytelling.
