Inspiration

We wanted to create a planner that requires no background with computers, yet still holds the sophistication to cater to various educators to students who are just starting to learn organization habits and to those pursuing higher studies

What it does

Collaborative Calendar allows users to plan their projects and due dates on a single website. It is a tool that can be used by educators and students to organize their projects, and create planners that helps us accomplish our goals together. Our target is, as mentioned earlier, is educators and students. For example, someone can post a project with their groupmates and it will display the progress percent of how much they have accomplished. This website will be better than other competitors because: Software such as outlook is way to complicated, and may be daunting to first time users. Also, the second competitor is Google Calendar. Although simple, it lacks the power for professional users. We set out to create a One-Stop-Shop in a Planner/Calendar/Collaboration tool.

How we built it

We built it using CodePen.io, and combined HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML was used to create the text and sections used on the website. CSS was used to modify the interface to make it User Friendly and visually appealing. Finally, JavaScript was used to create interactive elements and enhance the user side experience of using the program.

Challenges we ran into

The first challenge that we ran into was coding together while we are all separate and sharing data. We solved this by sharing our coded data into a Discord server, and we communicated that way. The second obstacle that we faced was going through the more tedious parts of coding. We solved this by giving each member a small part to work on. For example, 2 people work on the code and 2 people work on the presentation. The final obstacle we faced was knowing where to start. We solved this by finding a small template and then changing a lot of its disadvantages and making it fit our expectations. But overall, we all had fun creating out project, and we greatly enjoyed the process of this HackJA hackathon!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accomplishments that we are proud of is solving the many obstacles that we faced and also making use of every team members' knowledge and fitting it together to create a useful product.

What we learned

We learned how to use CodePen.io to create web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that is integrated in the server. We also learned how to collaborate on different parts and how to create websites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

What's next for Collaborative Calendar

In the coming future, we would : Further program Features of Collaborative Calendar Bring messages to life Develop the Search component Link popular apps such as TinkerCAD, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, MATLAB, etc Progress the “Update Status” tool and the “Add User” tool
