Inspiration
Over the past few weeks, I have realized that a lot of my peers have become stressed with declining mental health and needed to find a place to "chill". This allowed me to come up with the idea of ChillZone, a place for high schoolers to escape no matter how they feel.
What it does
ChillZone is a web-based application that lets users to select how they feel which allows them to be redirected to a site that takes these feelings and sustains them if they are positive. If they are negative, then these feelings are addressed and reduced accordingly. All of this is done via features that include sound, video, and music.
How I built it
I built this using HTML to create the website, JavaScript to add functionality (change background images), and CSS to style it. I also used EchoAR to accompany the users with an AR Heart when necessary to lighten the mood.
Challenges I ran into
It was a challenge trying to figure out how a background GIF would work within the HTML, but in the end, it worked out. It was also hard, working by myself within the limited time frame as I had so much I wanted to do without the necessary time.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud to have completed this project, which has a lot of potential to help my peers in aspects such as handling mental health during study periods and normal free time.
What I learned
I learned to manage my time effectively and plan out a project. I also learned how to script my ideas properly onto a webpage.
What's next for ChillZone
Next up, I want to integrate AI into website so that the user does not have to input how they feel, instead their face is scanned and an algorithm redirects them to an appropriate page based on the emotions they are displaying.
