Inspiration

The inspiration for this project comes from my wife. She loves cooking and spends a lot of time watching cooking videos. However, she often struggles to follow the recipes properly. Many times, she loses her recipe collections because they are written on paper or just kept in memory. Seeing this problem inspired me to build an app that helps organize and follow recipes more easily.

What it does

ChilliMatcha is an AI-powered recipe organiser. It turns video URL into structured recipe. The recipe detail is the focal point of this app. From a single structured recipe, ChilliMatcha can put it into a beautiul meal planner, collect it into a personal cookbook, generate grocery list from ingredient with a click of a button. It can also generate pantry inventory by scanning receipt, generate recipe from photo or screenshot. One of the differentiation this app has might be cooking session. With a click of a button we can go to cooking session with timer. The idea is to track how much time we spent executing a recipe. Based on our own experience, knowing how much time a recipe needs really help for future reference and to calculate when we want to cook for bigger portion such as for a family gathering. Besides, this kitchen hours tracker is an interesting addition for this app.

How we built it

I built it using flutter and supabase stack with the help of AI. External resources include Revenuecat, Resend SMTP, and google cloud

Challenges we ran into

Time constraint and prioritizing features to build

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As. a solo app builder being able to make a working app in less than a month by incorporating cloud database, auth, payment flow etc is a huge accomplishment. Not going to make it without AI

What we learned

Prioritize and choose the proper tools

What's next for ChilliMatcha

I actually really want to add an element of fun inside this game, like a confetti when finishing Cooking Session. Also I want to enable admin to create some sort of monthly challenge, just like this Hackathon but for cooking. the prize might just be a simple Badge or other achievement, but I thought that might make members more having more fun using the app
