Inspiration

Sometimes, we think too much. When your brain races all day, we just need a little rot. Why not collect it?

What it does

Brainrot TCG allows you to get that quick dopamine rush ripping open a new pack, while keeping it lowkey with brainrot. It keeps happiness high, and overstimulation low.

It is a trading card game, similar to others like pokemon, where you can build your collection by opening packs. We keep track of your collection across sessions, so you never lose your brainrots.

How we built it

We used a Vite and React framework to create performant interactive card components, styled with CSS numerous sound effects and card animations.

We created art for the cards using Gemini's Nano Banana 2, an AI photo editing model. By using AI, we kept the spirit of brainrot alive, since most brainrot is already AI generated.

Challenges we ran into

  • We had to make a very big pivot with only a few hours remaining in the hackathon (reach out to us for more details)
  • It is often difficult to have a coherent theme. Make sure to have your visual effects serve the same purpose. Sticking with the vision is the most important part.
  • Coming up with a unique idea requires connecting many seemingly unrelated concepts.
  • We struggled with background research.
  • We faced difficulty using the 11-labs API.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We created a fun and simple game that anyone can play, with intuitive controls and engaging visuals.
  • We got public attention, even from strangers.

What we learned

  • The vision is the most important factor towards the product
  • Creativity comes from the bravery to try risky ideas
  • It's never too late to try something new

What's next for BrainrotTCG

  • Expanding our userbase
  • Enhancing our card collection
  • Introducing a card value system, with rarity
  • More types of pack
  • Pack value leaderboard
  • Achievements for rare pulls
