Inspiration
The inspiration for Block 3 came from the growing need for a secure and anonymous social platform for university students to discuss academic and non-academic topics. Many existing platforms lack a strong sense of community and meaningful incentives for academic achievement, so we wanted to build a blockchain-based solution that could address these issues and offer a more engaging and rewarding experience. We also noticed the growing interest in web3 technology and blockchain-based solutions, which led us to explore the potential of using NFTs to reward academic achievements and foster a sense of community among students.
What it does
Block 3 is a social platform for university students that allows them to freely express their ideas, opinions, and interests in a secure and anonymous online space. The platform features a forum for open discussion, a Metamask wallet integration for secure transactions, and NFT badges for academic achievements. With Block 3, students can connect with their peers, celebrate their wins, and build a stronger sense of community within their university.
How we built it
We built Block 3 using a variety of technologies and tools, including the Polygon zkEVM network for the blockchain infrastructure, Thirdweb for web 3 framework, React for the front-end user interface, and Pinata for the storage. We also integrated the Metamask wallet for secure transactions on the blockchain and used Pinata for storing NFT assets.
Challenges we ran into
During the development process, we faced several challenges, such as integrating the Metamask wallet with the platform, ensuring scalability and efficiency on the blockchain, and optimizing the user experience for both desktop and mobile devices. We also had to ensure that the platform met high standards of security and privacy, which required a lot of testing and debugging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges we faced, we're proud of the final product we were able to deliver. We were able to build a platform that offers a secure and anonymous online space for university students to connect and engage with each other. We're also proud of the NFT badge system we developed, which offers meaningful incentives for academic achievement and celebrates student success.
What we learned
Through the process of building Block 3, we learned a lot about the potential of web3 technology and blockchain-based solutions. We gained a deeper understanding of how NFTs work and how they can be used to incentivize and reward user engagement. We also learned the importance of creating a user-friendly interface and incorporating user feedback into the development process.
What's next for Block 3
- Implement virtual events feature for students to attend webinars, guest lectures, and virtual fairs.
- Develop a scholarship marketplace to help students search and apply for available scholarships.
- Introduce a reward system that uses ERC20 tokens to incentivize and reward students for completing certain tasks and campaigns.
- Explore partnerships with universities and companies to provide additional value to the platform and attract more users.
