Here is our website built using Django. This was our very first time using Django to develop a project and we faced many challenges while doing so. We learned a lot about both back-end and front-end development processes. In addition, we also learned about integrating Google Cloud API services into our website.

The past two years have been very stressful for everyone around the world. It all started with the COVID-19 pandemic which led to country-wide quarantines and the closing of places where people go to take breaks. People who would de-stress themselves by going to the gym, shopping, or just simply going for a walk in the park, were stripped of that pleasure. Meeting people in person had become a thing of the past.

With restrictions lifting and people beginning to return to their daily lives, we thought they could use some assistance with socializing again after 2 years of being stuck in their homes.

Introducing Bench Date. Bench Date is a simple, user-friendly website which allows you to search for benches all around Calgary! If you are hungry, Bench Date also allows you to filter for picnic tables while also allowing you to choose the direction that you face to experience the perfect sunset view. Once you find a potential location, you can click on the marker to get more details about how to find the bench. You can even go into street view where the marker will lea you right to your next break. Whether you are a photographer, nature enthusiast, or out with that special someone, Bench Date is the perfect way to take a break from your busy day while also potentially meeting new people.

This website as a lot of potential to be expanded in the future. Bench Date could potentially have the ability to save your favorite benches and recommend great places to get food on your way to having a peaceful and stress-free time. We are sure that Bench Date will find your new favourite spot to take a break.
