The problem

The waiting list for an NHS physiotherapy appointment is over 2 months. Most amateur athletes are unable to afford private physios costing hundreds. Equally, we believe people do not deserve to suffer months in pain. We have built “BackInPlay” to help injured amateur sports players recover safely and affordably.

Our solution

In our solution, you can describe your condition to your personal AI physio with an ElevenLabs voice assistant. Our AI has access to the full database of all the physio exercises that are used by physiotherapists at scale. Leveraging this database, it creates a personalised plan of exercises for you to do. As you do the exercises, we utilise computer vision to pinpoint key joints as landmarks, giving you real-time feedback on your movements. We provide every amateur sports person an affordable, accessible, and pocket-sized digital physio.

Challenges faced

The biggest challenge we faced was access to a reliable data source. We managed to connect our AI to a database with all of the physio exercises prescribed by physios. Initially, we proposed to use an end-to-end Eleven Labs framework. However, due to real-time feedback incorporation issues with the ElevenLabs agent, we overcame this obstacle by embedding an extra LLM layer.
