    v0.5.1 Stable

Aviac released this 2025-09-27 11:20:30 +02:00 | 25 commits to main since this release

    Hello everyone! 👋

This is just a small patch release, which bumped a few versions in the Cargo.lock to fix some vulnerabilities. Otherwise this version of the code is much more tested and also includes some minor bug fixes. I'll continue to improve the integration test coverage and free all of the bugs 🐛 that might have been stuck in the code base so that they can fly away and be free 🦋 🌞 🌱

Oh and I also have liberapay now, if you want to support the project!

Anyways, see you soon and have a wonderful day! 💚

    Hey everyone,

it has been a veeeerry long time since the last release. A lot has happened since and the repo went unmaintained for quiet some periods of time. Anyways, I'm back every now and then to improve stuff and merge y'alls giga-cool contributions.

    This releases highlights are probably:

    • more non-interactive-ness for more ease of use when using berg for automation tasks. We're not completely there yet and not all actions support this flags as of now, but things drastically improved. If you find something that's still in your way, feel free to open an issue about it
    • JSON output mode. This should also improve the use of berg as a automation tool and brings us to my last personal highlight
    • proper integration testing. This is now possible due to the JSON output. We test with some really fancy NixOS tests which spin up VMs with a fresh forgejo instance. Then we can throw all the berg commands at this that we want to cover. It feels really good to build up some certainty here, so that we can move forward without fear in the future

All of these things considered, the biggest highlight by far is y'all s contributions though. I was really surprised by the sheer amount of PRs that got opened up over the past half a year. That actually motivates me quiet a lot and my main focus for the next few months will be to improve testing further to make contributions even easier and quicker. I thank all of the many contributors for their patience. Some of your PRs and issues sat around for too long and I want to improve this! Anyways, once again, a bit thank you to you all! 💚

In particular I also want to thank @cyborus again for his ongoing efforts to maintain forgejo-api which is now one of the fundament stones of codeberg-cli! 💛

I hope the next release won't take as long ... but you never know so I won't promise this time around!

I wish you all, all the best. All the power to all the people! ☮️

    Hey everyone,

it has been a long year since the last update. Due to some recent advancements I was able to find hope and fun in picking up the project again. This release mainly includes some major refactors and some convenience functionality like the simpler table output style. After cleaning up some more of the leftover issue I hope to continue with feature development a bit.

Anyways, thanks for all of your feedback and also special thanks to noth, tranzystorekk and Cyborus for discussing and experimenting on an alternative version of this package together. You folks rock! ♥️

    Hey everyone!

This is a re-release of 1.0.0 to indicate that the crate isn't that stable yet. I was a bit hasty with releasing 1.0.0 because I thought I needed to, to indicate a breaking change. After some discussions I figured it would be best if we continued our journey below 1.0.0. I'm sorry for the inconvenience yet again. 1.0.0 is deprecated and we will start with 1.0.1 once we hit stable-land. Here are the infos for the release.

While working on packaging codberg-cli for nix I noticed that the binary name cod is already taken. Since we are still early in development, after some short discussions, we settled for renaming the binary to berg.

I'm currently still working on the nix package, but it is also on the way! 🎉

This release includes some basic commands which are sufficient to have a
    real reason to use cod.

Installation is currently only supported by building the CLI app from
    source by yourselves.

If you want to give it a try: Have fun with it and feel free to leave
    some feedback 👋
