fixed mpl finance buglets identified by Keith Goodman

First attempt to implement a timer in the Mac OS X backend. Blitting has not
(yet?) been implemented, but otherwise it seems to work fine.

revise multiple_yaxis_with_spines.py as suggested by Stan West

backend_tkagg: delete dead code

See bug #3081512. Set line widths correctly in draw_quad_mesh.
