Inspiration
The inspiration for OrcaBot came from a conversation with my sister. She wanted to invest some of her leisure money into cryptocurrency to aim for exponential profit. The key was that she wanted a method where she wouldn't have to worry if she lost the initial investment, but she would be very pleased to see a decent profit. This sparked the idea for an intelligent, automated trading bot.
We initially built a prototype for the Graphethon hackathon and were successfully selected for the first round. However, after being rejected in the second round, the project was temporarily put on hold. After leaving my job in July, I decided to revive and rebuild it as a side project. I am now the primary client of my own system, with the goal of earning money for myself through this platform.
What it does
Project Orca is an AI-powered crypto trading platform where "apex predators hunt together in coordinated pods." It empowers users to navigate the volatile crypto markets by using intelligent bots that work collaboratively to maximize profits. The platform offers a "Pod Command Center," which is a live dashboard where users can monitor and manage their trading bots.
Key features include:
- Intelligent Pod Trading: AI-powered bots that work together using advanced algorithms.
- Deep Market Analysis: The platform supports multiple trading strategies such as Grid, Momentum, Scalping, and Arbitrage.
- Apex Predator Protection: Advanced risk management tools are in place to safeguard the user's portfolio.
- Sonar Analytics: Users get access to comprehensive performance tracking and insights to navigate the crypto landscape.
- Pod Community: A community for traders to share strategies and market intelligence.
How I built it
After the hackathon, I decided to rebuild the project from the ground up, focusing on a new architecture and infrastructure. The current version is being built with a focus on creating a system that can support complex mathematical trading algorithms. The goal is to find the most suitable and robust technologies to handle the high demands of real-time, AI-driven trading and to ensure that the system can execute trades with precision and speed.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest initial challenge was the rejection from the hackathon after the second round, which led to the project being temporarily shelved. Reviving it as a side project has been a challenge in terms of time and resource management. I am currently in the process of finding the most suitable and stable technologies to bring the full vision of OrcaBot to life.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud of taking the initial concept and reviving it after the initial setback. I'm also proud of the core idea of "Intelligent Pod Trading," where the bots work together in a coordinated fashion, much like a pod of orcas. Building the project to the point where I can be my own client is a significant accomplishment for me.
What I learned
Throughout this process, I've learned a great deal about the complexities of building a sophisticated trading platform. The initial failure taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance. Being both the developer and the client has given me a unique perspective and a deeper understanding of what a user would want in a trading bot.
What's next for OrcaBot
The vision for OrcaBot is to continue to grow and evolve. The next steps include:
- Expanding the Pod: Introducing more AI-driven trading strategies and expanding to more trading pairs.
- Developing a Mobile Pod: Creating a mobile application for trading on the go.
- Introducing an Ocean API: Allowing other developers to integrate with our platform.
- Growing the Community: Fostering a strong and active community of traders who can learn from each other.
